Veterans Day celebrated

The Aeronautical Museum participated in the celebration of Military Veterans' Day at the Guard House in Topčider, where a Ceremonial Academy was organized, attended by the President of the Government of Serbia Đuro Matsut, Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović.

The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem of the Republic of Serbia, followed by a minute of silence in honor of all those who gave their lives defending their homeland in the liberation wars of Serbia. After that, the congratulation of the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, which he sent on the occasion of today's holiday, was read.

Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić addressed those present and pointed out that this is the day when we remember with deep respect all those who put the welfare of the homeland and their people above personal needs, fears and doubts. Addressing the veterans, Minister Gašić emphasized that they are a living testimony of courage and perseverance, and that this ceremony is a message that their deeds will not be forgotten and that "we will carefully guard the freedom of Serbia and the lofty ideals of the military profession." He said that "although we try to win our battles today with cooperation, wise politics and the power of dialogue, we never forget the path that led us to peace and independence nor the price paid for today's well-being."

On that occasion, the Minister of Defense mentioned that every opportunity must be used to instill strength and self-confidence in young people by reminding them of the price paid so that they could be themselves today. At the big military parade "Strength of Unity" a special place was occupied by the sub-echelon of military veterans. On that occasion, Minister Gašić presented a military memorial medal for outstanding contribution to the defense system to retired Lieutenant General Radojko Stefanović, commander of the sub-echelon of military veterans.

The central ceremony on the occasion of the Day of Military Veterans was attended by members of the collegium of the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army, the Government of Serbia, the military diplomatic corps, veterans and families of fallen members of the Army, as well as representatives of religious communities and traditional and veteran associations.
