Balkanfila XIX

The international philatelic exhibition "BALKANFILA", after almost five decades, is being held again in Belgrade from October 12 to 14, 2023, in the House of the Serbian Army. The exhibition is organized by the Union of Philatelists of Serbia and the Post of Serbia, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. Mission "Balkanfile" is to strengthen and develop friendship between philatelists from the Balkan region. At the International Philatelic Exhibition "BALKANFILA XIX" a total of 12 countries are participating. The exhibition was opened by the acting director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Đorđević, with the assessment that the organization "BALKANFILA XIX" shows the importance of philately in the cultural and historical sense, emphasizing that the exhibition raises philately to a higher level, stating that the Post of Serbia also contributed to this by issuing a series of commemorative and other postage stamps.

The Aeronautical Museum participates as an honorary exhibitor at the "BALKANFILA XIX" and for the first time presents to the domestic and international professional public a part of the material from the museum's rich collection of philately. As part of the exhibition, the Aeronautical Museum presented philatelic exhibits created by the curator of the philately collection, Manja Čajić. The exhibited philatelic material represents the pioneering period of aviation, the origin and development of civil and military aviation, the establishment and anniversaries of the Aeronautical Museum, significant anniversaries of the National Air Force and Air Defence, as well as the origin and development of the national aviation industry, which in 2023 is celebrating a century of existence, and on this occasion the Post of Serbia edited a special philatelic edition. A special segment is dedicated to the development of civil air traffic and the national airline, as well as to marking the anniversaries of the first flights. In addition to philately with aviation motifs, commemorative postage stamps issued on the occasion of the first national philatelic exhibition in Belgrade in 1937, as well as other philatelic exhibitions held in Yugoslavia (JUFIZ and BALKANFILA) were presented.

In the desire to show and popularize the importance of the history of the development of aviation and the aviation industry and technology as much as possible, postage stamps with motifs of aviation and the world of aeronautics were printed all over the world, with special reference to significant historical dates, personalities and events. In the philately collection of the Aeronautical Museum, regular and commemorative postage stamps with motifs of military and civil aviation from the 20th and 21st centuries are kept. The wealth of the collection consists of postage stamps and other philatelic materials, which present aviation motifs, national airlines of Yugoslavia, Serbia, as well as other countries of the world.
